The Overseas Turkish Flagship provides undergraduate students enrolled at Indiana University's Turkish Flagship program an opportunity for intensive, full immersion professional language training and development, as well as direct enrollment at Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL), located in Baku, Azerbaijan. The program offers a comprehensive study of all aspects of contemporary Turkish and Azerbaijani life and culture. This exciting academic-year-long program is conducted entirely in Turkish in Baku, Azerbaijan. The Program in Azerbaijan is administered by American Councils for International Education under the terms of a cooperative agreement with AUL.
Student Advising and On-Program-Support
Overseas Flagship students are required to take part in a pre-departure orientation in Washington, D.C., as well as an in-country orientation upon their arrival in Baku. Local staff include a Resident Director, who offers support and guidance for students in matters of academic, internship and host family life, as well as a local homestay coordinator, both of whom work closely with the Washington, DC-based administrative staff. American Councils and Language Flagship U.S.-based administrative staff are available to assist current and prospective students throughout the year.
All students receive accident and illness insurance through Cultural Insurance Services International (CISI), and 24/7 assistance is provided by Almaty-based American Councils program staff.
